The vocal group, Bre'sha (above) delivers a moving rendition of the Goshen concert song Everybody.
Its message is that change begins with you and me. According to an old proverb, A long journey begins with a small step.
Once a person takes this step, they discover that life's doors swing open for them and offer unlimited
possibilities. Our young people can't open these doors all by themselves. They need a guiding hand from caring
adults. When such adults say to a young person, I believe in you, it makes all the difference. It gives that young person
the self-confidence they need to believe in themselves. Once they believe, they can achieve.
Our concerts serve to remind people of the importance of encouragement. Someone said:
People have a way of becoming what you encourage them to be - not what you nag them to be.
Our young people don't need to be nagged, they need to be encouraged. Adults need it, too. The best way to build bridges is to encourage one another. Because when we encourage one another, we bring out the best in one another.
Captain Michael Downing of the Hollywood Police says, Anything we can do to channel the energy of our Youth Programs will be an investment well spent for the future of our communities.
Goshen agrees. Which is why we seek to work with existing model programs that have a good track record of achieving productive results. It's an effective way of showing young people that they have choices. These programs teach kids that there are positive alternatives to a self-defeating life of gangs, prostitution, crime, violence, drugs, suicide, depression, and anger.
